About Us

We are a language school teaching Czech for foreigners. We also provide methodology courses for teachers of Czech.

We are based in Brno, and offer lessons both in person and online. We focus on individual lessons and small groups, so that the course can be best targeted on the individual needs of the students.

All the lessons are conducted in Czech, even from the very beginners (using pictures, gestures, situations etc.), because we believe that, if you want to learn a language, you need to use it, and not only talk about it in a different language. Experience shows us that this is the most efficient way to get students speaking and understanding the language as quickly as possible. This also means that we can teach students that do not speak English (or other languages we understand), and the (often confusing) process of incessant English-Czech translation is eliminated.

We adapt the lessons to suit individual students, but always try to practice all the skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and study all parts of the language (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and functional language), so that the students acquire a complex understanding of the language, and find its underlying logic and system.

As the basis for courses, we usually use the textbooks Czech Express or Czech Step by Step, because we find them the most communication-oriented, yet also complex, systematic and methodologically developed, with lots of extra materials both for teachers and students. However, the textbooks are always adapted and accompanied by additional materials to target the specific needs of individual students.

Testimonials

  • “Stanka was my first Czech teacher when I arrived in the country many years ago, and is still the best teacher I’ve had here. Even though I was a beginner, Stanka taught the lessons entirely in Czech, but in a way that made such a complicated language seem accessible, and most of all fun! Her lessons are designed to get students communicating in a natural way as soon as possible, based on real situations and authentic language. I can’t recommend her highly enough as a teacher!”

  • “Me and my wife had the good fortune of learning Czech language from Stanislava for almost a decade. Her lessons were intense and fun at the same time. We always felt more knowledgeable and confident in Czech after each session with her. She was flexible to adapt and drill deep into the areas of the language that we needed help with. Thanks mainly to her excellent teaching skills me and my wife cleared the B1 level Czech language exam for citizenship. We highly recommend her for anyone who wishes to learn the Czech language for everyday life or for focused examination preparation.”

  • “Stanka was my Czech teacher for several years, and I had a wonderful time working with her. She has a talent for making even the most self-conscious students feel at ease, and her lessons were always fun, interactive, and engaging. She focuses on communication and practical usage of language, always supplementing the textbook with more interesting and relevant material. She is a very flexible teacher who knows how to adapt her lessons to suit different abilities and interests. She also knows how to support the students who need more time and help, and extend those who need more challenge. I would highly recommend her for all ages and levels!”

She motivates me with her empathy and creates a pleasant learning atmosphere. It never gets boring, every lesson is unique, true to the motto: “your czech”. No topic is too strange for her, and she’s always open and curious. I am very grateful and really enjoy learning with her.”

  • “I was studying Czech for almost three years with Stanka. I went from being a total beginner to having a conversational level (A2) of Czech thanks to her. She is a wonderful teacher – well-prepared, very knowledgeable, kind, and most of all very patient!”

  • “I have been taught Czech by Stanka over the last three years, and would recommend her without hesitation. She is demonstrably knowledgeable about the Czech language, in a way that other teachers I have had were not, and so are able to provide reasons and answers to queries and confusions. She’s also a very nice person, and knows how to teach.”

  • “Stanka taught me Czech over a number of years. One of the best aspects of her lessons is that they are always interesting and she makes great efforts to make the lessons relevant and topical. The lessons are fun and the activities varied. She has the great skill of making complicated things simple. Although I must have tried her patience often, she was always understanding. She has a way of making things clear without any difficulty and I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone trying to learn Czech.”
